 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. POLICE WELFARE: IGP DIRECTS IMMEDIATE COMMENCEMENT OF PROMOTION PROCESS FOR INSPECTORS, RANK & FILE


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration to coordinate the Force Secretary for the setting up of Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for the screening and selection of deserving members of the Inspectorate cadre for recommendation to the Police Service Commission for promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II).

Simultaneously, the DIG DFA has also been charged with mandating the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to compile a list of members of the rank and file who are due and deserving of elevation to their next ranks.

The Inspector-General of Police, while noting that regular and timely elevation of deserving officers to their next ranks would boost the morale of officers and men of the Force, charged the officers to be exemplary and exhibit professionalism in order to sustain the manpower development drive of the NPF.
