 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. POLICE WELFARE: IGP DIRECTS IMMEDIATE COMMENCEMENT OF PROMOTION PROCESS FOR INSPECTORS, RANK & FILE


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration to coordinate the Force Secretary for the setting up of Departmental Selection Board (DSB) for the screening and selection of deserving members of the Inspectorate cadre for recommendation to the Police Service Commission for promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II).

Simultaneously, the DIG DFA has also been charged with mandating the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to compile a list of members of the rank and file who are due and deserving of elevation to their next ranks.

The Inspector-General of Police, while noting that regular and timely elevation of deserving officers to their next ranks would boost the morale of officers and men of the Force, charged the officers to be exemplary and exhibit professionalism in order to sustain the manpower development drive of the NPF.
