CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Ajay Banga Emerges New World Bank President

The World Bank has announced the appointment of Ajay Banga as its next president, taking over from David Malpass on June 2.

The development lender has high hopes for Banga, who will lead the institution during a critical time as it seeks to improve its response to climate change.

Following a board vote, the World Bank released a statement expressing confidence in Banga’s leadership, adding that it looks forward to working with him on the organisation’s evolution process.

“The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Banga on the World Bank Group Evolution process,” the bank wrote.

Banga has been appointed for a five-year term.
