 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Represented by his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, the Bayelsa Chief Executive acknowledged the critical role traditional rulers play in society as the custodians of culture and tradition, stressing that his administration will continue to hold them in high esteem. MAN ARRESTED FOR BEATING HIS WIFE TO DEATH IN ADAMAWA STATE.(PHOTO).




Man arrested for beating his 38-year-old 'wife' to d€ath for seeking to marry another man


The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 56years old man, for allegedly beating his 38-year-old acclaimed ‘wife’ to death. The suspect, Aminu Abubakar, a resident of Lelewaji, Shagari phase 2, in Yola South Local Government Area, for allegedly beating his wife, Nana Fadimatu, following a little disagreement that ensued between them when he heard that the deceased is going to marry a new Husband the next day.


Angered by that information, the suspect furiously engaged her on May 5 at about 10pm, and applied force on her by hitting her with a hard object as a result of which she fell down unconscious and was later pronounced d€ad.


The suspect was apprehended by the Police in Shagari Divisional Police Headquarters following report received from the awaiting Husband Mahmud Rufai of Shagari Annex, Yola South Local Government Area.


Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the investigation so far reveals that the suspect who is a Manager of Anasam table Water at Jambutu 50 Housing had one (1) child with the deceased after 9 years of their marriage.


He mentioned that the state Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola while expressing shock, commended DPO Shagari for arresting and making it impossible for the Suspect to escape Justice.
