 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. ACTDA Intensifies Raid Against Illegal Trading, Removes Shanties In Parts Of Awka




Officials ofAwka Capital Territory Development Authority have embarked on the demolition of street shanties and illegal stores defacing the Capital City. 


The areas visited by the agency's officials were Ngozika Estate road, Club road, formerly Abakillki street, as well as Oby Okoli avenue.


Speaking during the raid, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr. Ossy Onuko, disclosed that the operation will be a sustained effort in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's agenda of making Anambra a liveable and prosperous homeland.


Mr. Onuko regretted that despite the numerous warnings by the agency and other agencies of governmemts, traders have continued to construct shanties and trade along road sides, and warned that ACTDA will continue to wage war against all manners of impunity in the capital territory.


According to the ACTDA boss, they will continue to discharge their duty without fear or favour and warned against all forms of street trading, erection of shanties and building on top of water channels.


Recall that Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Information, made a public announcement banning all forms of indiscriminate street trading and building of shanties across the state..
