Gov Fintiri Orders Desilting Of Blocked Drainages In Adamawa

Worried by the blocked drainages by sands and bins, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has ordered desilting of drainages across the state.

This move will not only clear waterways but subdue the parrenial flooding that devastates the people of the state, leaving victims counting losses annually.

to this end, the state government has contracted G and G construction LTD for the project which has since took off in the state as reported by our Correspondent.

Representative of the G and G construction company Ltd in an interview with newsmen in Yola advised residents of the state to as a matter of urgent concern guard their drainages against blockage.

Builder Ayuba Wasa said the company has over the past one month desilted drainages around the CBN, Market, Zaranda, Bishop and Ilorin streets through to the bypass, with Ganye street and others in the state capital that are underway.

He advised all stakeholders to as a matter of community service educate their wards on the dangers associated with blocking of drainages saying the government needs the support of all and sundry to achieve its desired goal

Builder Ayuba however called on the government to initiate more ways to pack refuse and put in place strict penalties for defaulters.

A community leader, Alh Abdullahi Umar who was overwhelmed by the project described the effort by the government to desilt blocked drainages as the first of its kind in decades, opining that since the return of democracy they have never had it this good.

The Governor according to him is a Godsend who has come to salvage the state from the shackles of underdevelopment, noting that the area now has a new road network.

On their part as community leaders, he assured that will continue to enlighten the residents on the need to dump refuse at designated places rather than in waterways to block drainages, soliciting for more democracy dividends in the area.
