CRIME BULLETIN
(1). ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTS FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, CULPABLE HOMICIDE AND THEFT
On 23/05/2023 at about 2030hrs, based on a tip-off, Police operatives attached to 'A' Div Suleja arrested the following two suspects;
-Sunday Paul aged 22yrs of Timber-shed, Suleja
-Bali Joshua aged 33yrs of Kwamba area, Suleja
The suspects were arrested in connection with the culpable homicide of one Boniface Chinanwa aged 45yrs of Morocco road, Suleja.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed that on 17/05/2023 at about 1900hrs, they were invited by one Zingfa Selchak of the same address but presently at large. He briefed them on his intention to snatch a tricycle and that he needed their assistance to perpetrate the act.
He took them to somewhere along Kwamba road, opposite Timber-shed, and told them to wait for him, shortly he appeared with a tricycle rider whom he deceitfully contracted to convey some goods for him.
They jointly moved to a nearby corner with the rider pretending to start packing the goods into the tricycle. Suddenly, the said Zingfa placed a cable on the neck of the rider from the rear, tightly drawn and strangulated him till death with the help of Bali while Sunday tied the hands of the victim.
The suspects also searched the victim, stole his phone and other valuables in his possession, while Zingfa drove the tricycle to an unknown destination, both Bali and Sunday dropped the body of the deceased by the roadside, where it was discovered the following morning.
The suspects have been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation, as effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing Zingfa and to also recover the tricycle with other valuables stolen.
The exhibit recovered is the cable tied to a spanner used to strangulate the victim.
(2). ARREST OF A SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL BREACH OF TRUST AND FRAUD.
A case of cheating, criminal breach of trust and internet-related offenses was referred to the Command from Magistrate Court Minna on 22/05/2023 involving one Akinnowonu Damilola Victoria aged 23yrs of Kolawole Street Tunga, Minna
Immediately the case was referred, Police operatives attached to SCID swung into action and the suspect was arrested with the help of the family and during interrogation, she claimed to have been operating an online business for about a year ago, via a link she discovered on Facebook, by showcasing items such as female clothes, bags, shoes, phones, laptops and other electronic gadgets.
She said that through this act, she was able to gather many customers online who usually place orders for such items. She asserted further that due to her customers' complaints about price, she took some orders at a low rate and sometimes used the proceed to supply other customers.
Consequently, piling up orders she could not meet up for other transactions. Preliminary investigation revealed that she deceived her victims that her goods were seized by the Customs. She also rented two warehouses located in Tunga/Kpakungu areas of Minna with over two million naira, which she used to deepen her fraud escapades.
She confessed that by her rough estimates, she is owing over one hundred customers to the tune of about one hundred and fifty million naira. Presently about 72 victims have so far surfaced at SCID Minna giving the Police, the statements of their ordeal with the suspect.
The case is under investigation, as the suspect is undergoing interrogation at SCID Minna, and she will be arraigned before the court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
(3). ARREST OF A SUSPECTED ELECTRICAL CABLE VANDAL
On 30/05/2023 at about 0500hrs, based on information received that a strange person was sighted in the forest between Kukpa junction and Bologi axis suspiciously roaming around.
Police operatives attached to Enagi Div mobilised with local vigilante to the area at about 0530hrs and one Baba Mohammed aged 40yrs of Danko village, Lavun LGA was arrested with a motorcycle at the point where about 12 bundles of vandalized electrical cables belonging to AEDC were kept in the bush, waiting for evacuation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he made some calls on his phone at the same point, within the early hours of the day suspected to have invited his gang members to come and evacuate the cables.
However, the suspect could not give satisfactory account of himself as to why he was found at the exact point, at that early hours of the day. The case has been transferred to SCID Minna for discreet investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, psc(+) commended Nigerlites for providing information about criminality in our environment, while he admonished members of the public to be careful and be more security conscious in their dealings with strangers to avoid being harm. He reiterated further that people should be more familiar and understand a market system, whether online or physical market before patronizing such market.
