 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. GOV SANWO-OLU INAUGURATES NEWLY APPROVED LAGOS STATE COUNCIL OF OBAS AT LAGOS HOUSE, ALAUSA, IKEJA, ON WEDNESDAY, 12TH JULY 2023


I am happy to announce the r
enewal of the tenures of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs for another term as well as the continuation of the tenure of Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Aremu Akiolu, as the body’s chairman.

The monarchs play an important role in preserving our cultural heritage as well as continuing to play a role in contemporary governance and delivery of the dividends of democracy. 

I charged the council on the importance of keeping Lagos safe for business and habitation and the important role they play as institutions that interact heavily with our communities. 

As a responsive government, we have continued to support our traditional rulers to enhance their mobility and general upkeep, as well as the construction and renovation of palaces across the State. It is our expectation that all of these will aid seamless discharge of their duties in their respective domains.
