Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search. We Can’t Fold Hands, Watch Country Deteriorate, CJN Tells Judiciary 

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, yesterday, urged jurists and legal professionals not to sit by and watch the country degenerate but rather wake up to their role of charting a course for national development.

Ariwoola, who said this, while declaring open the 2023 Nigerian Bar Association- Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) conference, urged lawyers to embrace honesty, transparency and integrity, saying they must distinguish themselves and not be afraid to fight for a just society.

Also, in his remarks, NBA chairman, Yakubu Maikyau, said a new code of conduct for legal practitioners would be launched January 1, 2024, to fight corruption within the Bar, The Guardian reports.
