 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. ANAMBRA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSED A RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR TO DIRECT THE M.D. OF ANAMBRA STATE ROAD MAINTENANCE AGENCY TO COMMENCE PALLIATIVE WORL ON DILAPIDATED ROADS ETC.(PHOTO).#PRESS RELEASE



Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Managing Director of Anambra State Road Maintenance Agency to commence palliative work on the dilapidated portion of Àkuzor road Nkpor, Afor Nkpor-Eke Nkpor road and Ugwu Nwasike-Abatete Road in Idemili North Local government area to alleviate the sufferings of commuters.


The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Idemili North Constituency, Mr Kingsley Udemezue during plenary in Awka.


House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Section fourteen two B of the 1999 Constitution as amended, affirmed that the protection of life and property remains the key function of government.


It is on this basis that Mr Udemezue sponsored the motion.


Explaining the motion, the Legislator lamented that the dilapidated portion of the said roads has caused untold hardship to road users through recurrent loss of life and property, accidents and by the nefarious activities of the men of the underworld.


Mr Udemezue maintained that if urgent palliative work is done on the roads, it will enhance the safety of road users and help to boost the socio-economic lives of the affected communities and Anambra State in general .


In his contribution, the member representing Awka North Constituency, Mr Johnmark Ikwunne also stated that hoodlums now use the areas to carry out criminal activities including kidnaping due to the deplorable condition of the area and urged Anambra Road Maintenance Agency to fix those areas to salvage the situation.


In their remarks, the Chief Whip of the House, Mr Jude Ngaobiri and the member representing Aguata Constituency Two, Mr Tony Muobuike also spoke in favour of the motion.


Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze also highlighted the importance of the roads to socio-economic development of Anambra State and read out the resolution while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote
