 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Anambra State Government wades into Nteje Igweship Tussle.

 Stakeholders in  Nteje have been charged to embrace dialogue in resolving their Igweship tussle.

  

The state Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy  and Community Affairs, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne  gave the charge  when some stakeholders from the community visited him at the government house Awka.


The Commissioner promised to find a lasting solution to the crisis.


Mr. Nwabunwanne urged them to look critically into the issue which is in the supreme court with a view to understanding what the law says.


The commissioner assured them that the present administration will not impose traditional rulers on any Community, sressing that the choice of the people must be obeyed.


In their different speeches ,some of the stakeholders namely chief Sir Paul Nnedi, Chief Benjamin Moufuanya,Mr. Williams Igboanua, Chief jideofor Okuh,Chief Paulinus Obichukwu , Chief Benneth Chinweze, Barrister Amasiam, and chief Chris omokwu  among others went down memory lane on how the igweship tussle started in the community, explaining that they have three quarters in Nteje.


According to them,the traditional stool in the community is rotational,from Ezi Nteje which is the first.


In their submission, Ikenga is the quarter of late Igwe Roland Odegbo  but his Igweship was under controversy , while Ifite Nteje is another quarter.


They explained that the past administration gave  Igwe Odegbo a certificate of recognition inspite of the controversy.


Going further,they said that after Igwe Odegbo's demise, Ikenga and Ifite quarters  started dragging the Igweship right which has brought about the present imbroglio.


Responding, the President General of Nteje town, Dr Nnamdi Ilodiuba promised to take his people home to find a lasting Solution to the igweship tussle.


 He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Commissioner Nwabunwanne and the permanent Secretary   of the ministry ,Barr Mrs Pauline Nwandu for their efforts in ensuring  peace and stability  in Nteje Community.(MOI)
