Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. IKE EKWEREMADU'S SON WEDS HEARTTHROB TIFFANY IN ABUJA.(PHOTOS).

Lloyd, son of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu got married to his heartrob, Tiffany in Abuja on Saturday.


The Nation learnt top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including three former Senate Presidents – Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark and Bukola Saraki – and PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, among others, stood in for Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice.


Ekweremadu, who represented Enugu West senatorial district in the Senate for about two decades, is being held in a UK prison with his wife Beatrice after they were found guilty of organ trafficking and sentenced to different jail terms in May, 2023.


The Nation reports that a UK Court sentenced the former Deputy Senate President and PDP chieftain to nine years and eight months in prison.


The court also sentenced Beatrice to four years and six months in prison while a doctor who allegedly colluded with them, Obinna Obeta, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
