 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, fnim, CON, warmly welcomed and received members of the Benue State Traditional Rulers’ Council in a special audience. The delegation was led by the highly esteemed His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, CFR, Tor Tiv, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, Och’Idoma.

During the audience, Senator Akume engaged in fruitful discussions with the revered traditional rulers, exchanging ideas on matters of mutual interest, including the development and progress of Benue State. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the traditional leaders and to foster a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges faced by the state.

As the audience concluded, Senator George Akume expressed his gratitude to His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, for their visit and reiterated the government’s dedication to working hand-in-hand with the traditional rulers for the betterment of Benue State.

The meeting served as a testament to the spirit of cooperation and partnership between the government and the traditional council, affirming their joint resolve to build a prosperous and harmonious future for the people of Benue State.
