 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, fnim, CON, warmly welcomed and received members of the Benue State Traditional Rulers’ Council in a special audience. The delegation was led by the highly esteemed His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, CFR, Tor Tiv, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, Och’Idoma.

During the audience, Senator Akume engaged in fruitful discussions with the revered traditional rulers, exchanging ideas on matters of mutual interest, including the development and progress of Benue State. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the traditional leaders and to foster a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges faced by the state.

As the audience concluded, Senator George Akume expressed his gratitude to His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, for their visit and reiterated the government’s dedication to working hand-in-hand with the traditional rulers for the betterment of Benue State.

The meeting served as a testament to the spirit of cooperation and partnership between the government and the traditional council, affirming their joint resolve to build a prosperous and harmonious future for the people of Benue State.
