 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, fnim, CON, warmly welcomed and received members of the Benue State Traditional Rulers’ Council in a special audience. The delegation was led by the highly esteemed His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, CFR, Tor Tiv, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, Och’Idoma.

During the audience, Senator Akume engaged in fruitful discussions with the revered traditional rulers, exchanging ideas on matters of mutual interest, including the development and progress of Benue State. The meeting provided an opportunity for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to listen to the concerns and aspirations of the traditional leaders and to foster a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges faced by the state.

As the audience concluded, Senator George Akume expressed his gratitude to His Royal Majesty, James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, and His Royal Majesty, John Elaigwu Odogbo, for their visit and reiterated the government’s dedication to working hand-in-hand with the traditional rulers for the betterment of Benue State.

The meeting served as a testament to the spirit of cooperation and partnership between the government and the traditional council, affirming their joint resolve to build a prosperous and harmonious future for the people of Benue State.
