SUBSIDY REMOVAL: GOV. KEFAS APPROVES DISBURSEMENT OF N15,000 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE TO 10,000 YOUTHS

9th August, 2023

Taraba state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has approved the engagement of 10,000 youth with N15,000 monthly allowances.

This according to the governor, is to alleviate the effect of the fuel subsidy remover on the state citizens.

In a press statement issued to journalists by the governor’s special adviser on Media and digital communication, Mr. Emmanuel Bello indicated that governor Kefas gave the approval on Wednesday while rolling out his palliative strategies in Jalingo during an engagement with labour leaders.

According to the statement, the idea was to ensure that every poor household in the state was affected by the palliative measures.

Kefas also disclosed that the state government will soon implement the Federal Government approved minimum wage and subsidized transportation fare for farmers to enable them to move their farm produce to the targeted markets and as well, deal with the impending food crisis challenges.

“As part of measures to alleviate the harsh effect of the fuel subsidy remover, I wish to announce here that my administration will engage 10,000 youth as part of the task force to clean up Taraba state. The youths will be placed on a monthly allowance of N15,000 each.

“My administration is also determined to implement the Federal Government approved minimum wage and subsidized transportation fare for farmers to enable them to move their farm produce to the targeted markets and as well, deal with the impending food crisis challenges.

“Measures are already in place to ensure that farmers in Taraba access free seedlings and fertilizers to enhance better yields.

“My administration plans is to also purchase gas-powered vehicles to reduce reliance on fuel and also mandate the state ministry of digital economy to find creative means to transform waste to wealth,” Kefas announced in a statement.
