The Anambra State Government through the State Ministry of Health has organized a five day residential training for Tuberculosis, Buruli Ulcer and Leprosy Supervisors in the state.

The training, which is ongoing in Awka, was for supervisors who are working in the various local governments as well as those working at the state level.

Addressing the participants, the Head of Medical Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu said that the training was very important to the state.

``Those managing the three diseases will gather more sufficient knowledge that would help them to efficiently execute their Jobs."

Dr. Chukwulobelu explained that the training before now was being done in Zaria but because of insecurity in the country, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo approved for the exercise to be held in Awka.

He pointed out that they have recorded over 2,700 cases of tuberculosis this year and appealed to people to avoid clustering in a crowded place if they have no business being there.

According to him, the state government is doing everything possible to eradicate the spread of the killer diseases in the state.

The Acting Director of Public Health, State Ministry of Health, Dr. Afam Anaeme, described the training as critical in winning the war against tuberculosis, bruli ulcer and leprosy.

Dr. Anaeme explained that tuberculosis which is a droplet disease can travel to someone's brain, spinal cord or intestine which makes it easy for the disease to kill its carrier with ease and called for all hands to be on deck in the fight against the killer disease.

A facilitator, Dr. Chijioke Oke lectured the participants on all they needed to know about the three diseases, how to efficiently manage them as well as how to relate with patients for enhanced service delivery. (Ministry of Information)
