 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. BENUE: GBOKO RESIDENTS CRY OUT OVER COLLAPSE BRIDGE, HON. ITIZA REACTS




Following the collapse of a vital bridge in Gboko, another unfortunate casualty of heavy rains, urgent pleas have arisen for government intervention. This incident, closely mirroring the collapse at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi due to recent downpours, has severed a critical federal government road connecting Gboko to Aliade, affecting the link between Enugu and other southern states. Impassioned youths from Mbayion took to the streets, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to act swiftly as previous community repair efforts failed, disrupting commuters.


In response, Benue State Governor acted promptly, deploying Commissioner for Works and Housing,  Hon Itiza Isaac Imojime , and officials to assess the damage. Today, the Commissioner inspected the bridge's extent, assuring community leaders of immediate relief while initiating dialogues with the federal government. Simultaneously, inspections of other critical roads occurred, with a commitment to swift repair mobilization, promising commencement by tomorrow.
