 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses. Obinabo Intervenes Apprehends Couple Who St@rrved Their 5 Year Old At Adazi-Ani, Anaocha LGA.

The Anambra State commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Anambra State, Hon. Ify Obinabo has intervened in the case of a 5 year old girl who was stæverd by her parents at Adazi-Ani, Anaocha local government area of the State.


This she did immediately she received a report about the incident at Adazi-Ani through the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha LGA Mr Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh and the state coordinator of Ladies of Good Governance Mrs Chinwe Uba.


Addressing the culprits at her office in Awka, Hon Obinabo noted that her primary assignment is to protect the rights of every child in the state whether from the state or not and assured that she wont let the perpetuators go free.


Hon. Obinabo appreciated the efforts of Mr Ikenna Anoliefo for rescuing the child and raising alarm when necessary calling on other individuals to emulate him.


On their parts, the culprits Mr Michael Wosu, 47 years old from Rivers state and Mrs Blessing Michael, 23years old from Akwa Ibom both resident at Adazi-Ani said that they are not responsible for the girls starvation because they are only obeying their pastor's prophecy which is that the 5 year old is a witch hence do not deserve to live.


Blessing went further to say that she also subjected the young kid to sleeping on a plank due to her constant pooing and peeing on her body.


She went further to say that the 5 year old is responsible for all her husband's downfall in business.


Meanwhile, the husband Michael Wosu denied having knowledge of the ill treatment mated out on the child.


As at the time of this report, the culprits are still in the police custody while the survivor is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Awka.
