 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. CULTISTS KILL YEAR ONE STUDENT OF UNIZIK AT MIRACLE JUNCTION. (PHOTOS).

𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗭𝗜𝗞 𝗔𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Suspected cultists have killed a year-one student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State. The incident happened on Thursday evening.

According to one Dickson Anayochi who spoke with our correspondent, Miss Chigozirim was hit by a stray bullet at Miracle Junction.

He said: “This girl Uche Joevita Chigozirim, a 100 level Student of the faculty of health Science was killed yesterday( Thursday) evening by stray bullet shot by suspected cultists at the popular Miracle Junction.”

“Please help us and let the world know the insecurity situation we are facing here in the Unizik environment and the state government is not doing anything to improve the situation.

“Please let the IG of Police help us with a checkpoint around Ifite area of Unizik because we are tired of complaining to the State Government. It’s now a culture we are almost used to.It’s really sad”.

As of the time of filing this report the lifeless body of the student was still lying at the crime scene and covered with banana leaves.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
