Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. Gateman impregnates 3 students in Anambra mission college

Queen’s Convent Awka, Anambra state, has been thrown into crisis as a gateman employed by the school authorities, allegedly, impregnated three students in the secondary school.

The students, it was learnt, are of Senior School (SS2) class, in the college owned by the Anglican Diocese of Awka.

According to sources, one of the girls impregnated almost committed suicide by attempting to jump down from the upstairs of the hostel if not that she was prevented by her colleagues and teachers.

“I was told that the students of the college have been complaining to the school authorities over the activities of the gateman, but they refused to do anything. I don’t know why the school should even engage the gateman because he drew tattoos on his body and puts on ear rings. These might be what he uses to deceive the girls,” the source alleged.

A teacher in the school, who spoke under anonymity, added that “some of us did not like the idea of bringing young men of about 28-30 years as security men in a female school.

“Even the students wanted old men who will treat them like their daughters, but it was a collective decision by the authorities, yet, their own daughters are not here. Now that the bubble has busted, who do we blame, how will the parents of those students take it?”

Efforts to speak with the school authorities was not successful as the school gate was shut at our reporter when visited, even though some staff of the college urged us to seek audience with the Bishop of Anglican Communion Awka, Most Rev. Dr. Alexander Ibezim.
