 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Nurses, Midwives In Anambra Organize Free Medical Outreach For Residents In Awba-Ofemili



Governor Chukwuma Soludo is highly passionate about the health needs of Ndi Anambra.

This is according to his Special Assistant on Security, Mr. Solomon Onwuemene who was speaking during a free medical outreach organized by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Anambra State chapter at Awba Ofemmili, Awka North Local Government Area.

Before the commencement of the exercise, the team educated beneficiaries on different health issues. 

They were equally diagnosed on cervical cancer, high blood pressure among others.

Speaking during the exercise Mr. Onwuemene, who said he was highly elated over the medical outreach given to his people thanked the association for a job well done.

He noted that many people are living with one form of illness or another but could not visit the hospital because of paucity of fund, but the exercise has given them the opportunity to be attended to, even as he commended the governor for the ongoing construction of Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Awba Ofemili road. 

The Anambra state chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwiferies, Mrs. Edith Onwuka said that the free medical outreach is part of their activities to celebrate International Nurses Week, which is to offer free medical services to the people. 

Mrs. Onwuka revealed that they came with optometrics, nurses and other health experts and that they will consult in different areas including free cervical cancer screening, and will also give out skill birth attendant kits, free eye glasses among other numerous other item.

The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ezekwesili Mmaduagwuna, thanked the team for the exercise and appealed to the government to send them a visiting doctor while a beneficiary, Mr.
Rowland Mmaduabuchi, praised God to bless their benefactor.
