 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.  Police smash kidnapping syndicate, arrest suspects in Yobe


The Yobe State Police Command has bursted a kidnapping syndicate in Fune Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesperson of the Command, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu on Wednesday.

He said two suspects were arrested in the operation, while one victim was rescued.

According to him, police operatives from the Damagun Divisional Headquarters apprehended the syndicate, which operates along Potiskum, Fune and Nangere axis.

He added that the raid led to the arrest of the syndicate’s kingpin, a 40-year-old, Barum Alh Makau, as well as a 27-year-old associate identified as Rufai Alh Labe.

The police spokesperson said the suspects were apprehended a day after they abducted a 40-year-old woman alongside her 25-year-old son, at Gelel village, in Fune local Government Area.

He added that, prior to their arrest, the kidnappers demanded N7 million as ransom for the woman after releasing her son.

“However, discreet investigation is currently ongoing at the State CID where weapons used in the perpetration of the crime such as five live ammunition, pump action guns, one AK47 rifle, cutlass, bow and arrows as well as locally made bulletproof jacks were recovered,” he said.
