 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. RIFAN To Cultivate 400 Hectres For  Improved Rice Seeds


Kebbi State Chapter of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN, is to cultivate 400 hectres of land for improved rice seeds to boost production in the state. 


The State Chairman of the association, Alhaji Bello Barade who stated this when he led members on a courtesy visit to governor Nasir Idris said the 400 land  hectres in Bagudo LGA was meant for the project and would cost N70 million for distribution to farmers. 


According to him, Kebbi State is famous in rice and wheat production in Nigeria but farmers are now using rice -for - food as seeds which motivated the association to start the cultivation of the improved seeds.


He appealed to the governor for intervention and support to upset the cost in other to boost rice production in the state.  


Responding, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, said his administration had placed top priority on agriculture and would explore ways to help farmers to boost production in the state.


"Now that the subsidy has been removed, the only alternative is to embrace agriculture and government will assist wherever necessary, that is why I am assisting with N70 million for the purchase of improved seeds to sustain the cultivation of both crops." 


The Governor thanked the members of the association for their support towards ensuring his victory and support to the incumbent government.
