 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Son smashes father to death for refusing to give him money

A teenager simply identified as Ikechi has smashed his father to death with a pestle at Rumuaghaolu in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Our reporter learnt that the suspect had requested an undisclosed amount of money from the father and became infuriated when the deceased refused to give him the money.

An eyewitness said that the enraged boy got hold of a pestle and smashed it on his father’s head.

The witness said the deceased died on the spot.

“He was enraged over the father’s refusal to give him money yesterday (Thursday). The boy was suspected to be on drugs. He was asking his dad for money and he refused to give him. He carried the pestle and hit him,” the eyewitness said.

When contacted, Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident.

She said that the suspect had been arrested by the police. (Daily Trust: Text).
