Terrorists Risk Annihilation If They Fail To Drop Arms...DHQ

Defence Headquarters says terrorists and their cohorts risk annihilation if they fail to to drop their arms and rejoin society to provide a better life for themselves and their children

A statement signed by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba said the armed forces will continue to apply strong military pressure on groups undermining the national security of the country, adding that it is clear that, terrorists and their cohorts cannot win in the face of ongoing military pressure against them and therefore, encouraged them to drop their gun.

He promised that the military will work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry while applauding the trust and cooperation from supportive groups which he said is unprecedented.

According to him, input from the groups is making a difference in their operations and called on citizens to report suspicious events around their localities as they are poised to do something about it.

Major General Buba said the counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations of the armed forces across the country in the last three months demonstrates the will of the armed forces to defeat terrorism and other violent extremist groups including those who support and finance them.

He emphasised that during the period under review, offensive operations and air strikes across the six geopolitical zones from June to August 2023 saw troops neutralizing 814 terrorists, arrested 1,326 criminals, arrested 42 kidnappers, 231 collaborators, 33 armed robbers, 80 cattle rustlers, 325 militias, 27 rails vandals, 73 gunrunners, 191 suspected oil thieves and rescued 721 kidnapped hostages while 4,560 terrorists and their families surrendered to troops.
