Catholic Priests Not Like ‘Fake Bishops’, Atiku Blasts Presidency’s Attack On Onaiyekan Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the Presidency’s attack on the Catholic Church and John Cardinal Onaiyekan, accusing the President Bola Tinubu administration of growing intolerant of dissent and uncomfortable truths. In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu on Sunday, Atiku said the Presidency chose intimidation and political attacks instead of reflecting on the substance of the cleric’s message. Catholic bishops had recently had an engagement with the president, where the latter defended his record and the independence of the electoral umpire. However, the cardinal in a television interview on Friday said the Catholic bishops told the president that the country is bleeding and the economy is not helping poor citizens.  Zamfara Govt Takes Measures To Rescue Kidnapped University Students


Zamfara State Government is taking proactive measures to ensure that, the kidnapped Students of the Federal University Gusau are rescued without any harm.


This was disclosed by the state Acting Governor Malam Mani Mummuni when he visited the University on assessment tour. 


He said that upon hearing the news about the unfortunate incident, the government promptly took action to determine the best way to safely rescue the abducted students.


According to him, the government will also take adequate measures of averting the reoccurrence of similar incidence.


Malam Mani assured the management of the University community, parents, and general public that, the victims would be rescued without any harm and called on them to continue abiding by the law.


Earlier, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Dalijan said security agencies have surrounded the perpetrators together with their victims both on air and land with a view to rescue them without any injury.


He denounced the allegation that the University management had alerted the security agencies about the attack before it occurred.


In a remark, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the University, Professor Ahmad Galadima expressed appreciation to the state government and security agencies for their prompt response.
