 Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. He further stated that the proposed 2026 budget by the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission stands at ₦117.28 billion, with KADIRS expected to generate ₦74.28 billion, while Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are projected to generate ₦43.24 billion. 2023 elections: Cardinal Onaiyekan slams Mahmood, accuses him of dishonesty

Bishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has slammed the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, for misleading Nigerians and not being honest in the conduct of the 2023 elections.

The Cardinal spoke to newsmen on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during the 10th anniversary celebration of the Jesuit Memorial College.
Onaiyekan accused Mahmood of not telling Nigerians the truth, when he knew things didn’t go well.

The cleric, however, insisted that the truth should prevail even as the opposition was challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the court.

He specifically said, “We should refuse to agree that this is a country where certificates are forged and it is okay.

“We should refuse to accept a situation where elections are rigged and you are told to go to court. These things have consequences. Jesus says you shall know the truth and the truth will make you free. INEC should accept that they have a very heavy trust deficit.

“Nothing wrong with admitting that things did not go so well. If we don’t tell the truth, we will not move forward.

“When I heard Professor Mahmood on television, even yesterday, telling us that everything went perfectly well, I shed tears. He knows he was not telling the truth.”

The Cardinal maintained that he would keep praying for Nigeria.

“I am a religious person and I keep praying to God to forgive us and to show us the truth because if we tell the truth, things will move fast. Nigerians are wonderful and I still hope that things will move fast.

“Whatever the judges may decide, whatever courts may say, at the end of the day, the truth will make us free,” he added.
