NIPOST Staff Reject New CEO
Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have shut down the head office of the service in Abuja, protesting the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.
Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, announced last week that President Bola Tinubu changed the leadership of under the Ministry of Communications, Innovations and Digital Economy., including NIPOST.
Speaking during a protest at the NIPOST headquarters in Abuja, the President of the National Union of Postal and Telecommunication Employees, Mr Buba Nehemiah, said the new appointment was against the interest of the workers.
They insisted that the immediate Post Master General should be allowed to stay in office.
“Under Adeyemi Adepoju, NIPOST was able to clear the debt it owed and that is the reason why we are having smooth process in our service,” Buba said.
According to him, “we have seen a situation to crumble this organization for the past three years, and today we are saying no to it. Today we are requesting that the post master general should be allowed to continue the good work he has started.
“Remember we are not against Mr president or the honourable minister but our desire is that his good work should be allowed to continue,” Adepoju said.
However, Tola Odeyemi has assumed office at NIPOST
The new Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Postal Service, NIPOST, Miss Tola Odeyemi on Monday assumed duty at the NIPOST Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.
She pledged to build on the legacy of her predecessors to advance the postal organization into its rightful position.
Miss Tola Odeyemi is an experienced engineer with over 15 years wealth of knowledge spanning from both public and private sector in Tech policy and Government Regulatory roles.
She is the first female to hold this position since NIPOST existence.
