 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Nov Polls: INEC Accredits 94 Media Organisations


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accredited 94 media organizations for the November 11 governorship elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States.


INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu who stated this in Abuja on Thursday during a meeting with Media Executives, explained that in the next few days, the accredited media organisations would be notified of the date for the collection of the identity cards for their official


Professor Yakubu told the Media Executives that the mock accreditation involving actual voters in designated polling units in the three states conducted by the Commission was successful.


‘’We tested the efficacy of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for both biometric authentication of voters and the upload of result to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).


We have received no adverse report so far and we look forward to improved performance of the BVAS in voter accreditation and result upload in the forthcoming Governorship elections and beyond,’’ he said.


Professor Yakubu also said the Commission would meet with the security agencies for the safety of journalists, technical staff and protection of the equipment being deployed by the media organizations on Election Day and to grant the media unimpeded access to polling and collation locations.


The INEC Chairman urged members of the media to strictly adhere to the ethics of their profession and avoid fake news.
