 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Pastor Dies As Church Building Collapses In Benue 


A pastor with the Dunamis Church in Markudi, Benue State, was said to have died after the church building collapsed during a prayer session. 


The sad incident happened on Monday. 


Four others, who were with the pastor when the building collapsed, reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries. 


Confirming the sad incident to journalists on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, said, "Something like that happened, just one person died in the process. 


"You know when debris falls on people like that, the immediate reaction is what happens to the victims. So, people who rushed there were able to rescue four people; unfortunately, one person died. 


"The injured persons are responding to treatment in a hospital where they were taken to.".


THE GOVERNOR'S VISIT:


Gov Alia storms site of collapsed building, blasts Dunamis leadership


The Governor of Benue State, Fr Hayicnth Alia, has slammed the leadership of the Dunamis International gospel centre for erecting a substandard structure.


Yhe church caved in the early hours of Tuesday, killing the resident pastor, Ahmed Sunday and injuring others.


Speaking when he visited the site, the Governor expressed disappointment that he did not meet any of the leaders of the church on ground.


He said the building was poorly constructed and would be revoked.


He said the leader of the church should know the law.
