 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Court grants Emefiele bail

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has granted former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, bail.

 

At his bail hearing today November 8, the judge ordered that Emefiele be released immediately to his lawyers and ordered the lawyers to produce him in court for his arraignment next week or at any time he is required to appear in court.

 

Justice Adeniyi ruled that the CBN governor must deposit his travel documents before the chief registrar of the court, pending his arraignment.

 

The judge frowned at Emefiele's detention without trial. The court must also not overlook the fact that he has been in detention for 151 days and the Federal Government and the Attorney General of the Federation must abide by court order.

 

The substantive motion on notice as well as the preliminary objection, were adjourned to November 17, 2023 for hearing..
