 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. FUT MINNA GETS NEW DVC AND PROMOTES 14 PROFESSORS.


Appointments and Promotions Committee of the Federal University of Technology FUT Minna Niger state has confirmed the appointment of Prof Abdullahi Mohammed as new Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics.

The appointment of Prof Abdullahi Mohammed is contained in a statement issued to Newsmen in Minna by the university‘s spokeswoman, Lydia Legbo, after the confirmation from the committee.

According to her the confirmation was made at the committee‘s eighty seventh meeting held at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus of the university at Gidan Kwano, Minna.

She however explained that the appointment was sequel to the selection process of the University Senate that was selected during its four hundred and eightieth regular meeting of the University.

The statement further said that the new Deputy Vice Chancellor started at the University as Assistant lecturer and Rose to the rank of a professor of Civil Engineering.

Until his new appointment he was the Director, Academic Planning and Corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and has published over fifty national and international journals in his career.

Also approved by the committee are the promotion of fourteen new professors and nineteen associate professors of Federal University of Technology Minna.
