 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. IGP EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON PASSING OF RETIRED CP FATAI ADIO SHITTU



The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force, expresses heartfelt condolences on the passing of CP Fatai Adio Shittu (Rtd). His demise on the 17th of November, 2023, is deeply mourned.


CP Shittu, a distinguished officer, served with honor and dedication in various capacities across different states, leaving an indelible mark on the Nigeria Police Force. His commitment to duty, evident during his tenure as CP Welfare, Provost, and CP Zamfara State Police Command until his retirement in August 2011, reflects his dedication to achieving purpose.


Born on the 23rd of August, 1950, in Offa, Kwara State, CP Shittu's educational journey took him from Offa Grammar School to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he studied History. Joining the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet in 1979, he served diligently in Kebbi, Ondo, Lagos, Imo, Cross River, Delta, Zamfara, Ogun, Ebonyi, Abuja, Edo, among other states.


The Inspector-General of Police extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of CP Fatai Adio Shittu, praying for solace during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
