Having followed the headlines and images from the event, I felt compelled to make a simple but urgent appeal: let us allow President Buhari to rest in peace. A careful look at those who dominated the book launch revealed the same factional lines that existed during Buhari’s lifetime. One camp was prominently represented, while others—equally close to the late president—were excluded. This selective engagement compounded by the choice of location of the event were red flags, and raises concerns about whether Buhari’s legacy is now being shaped to serve narrow interests rather than historical truth. IGP HONOURED AS FELLOW SOCIETY FOR PEACE STUDIES AND PRACTICE



The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., was today honoured with the title of Fellow by the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP). The investiture ceremony, which was held at Dennis Hotel, Wuse, Abuja, was attended by prominent figures and government officials, who celebrated IGP Egbetokun's remarkable contributions to maintaining peace and security in Nigeria. As a seasoned law enforcement officer, his leadership has been marked by a dedication to professionalism.


In his acceptance speech, IGP Egbetokun expressed gratitude for the honour and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address the multifaceted challenges facing the nation. The IGP further assured the society of Police's unalloyed partnership towards the capacity development of officers and men through continuous training and retraining. The ceremony served as a symbol of unity, bringing together scholars and experts in peace and security practice in support of a common goal – the promotion of peace and stability in Nigeria. 


IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., stands as an inspirational figure within the law enforcement community, embodying the spirit of hope for a safer and more secure Nigeria.


Those who attended and witnessed the investiture ceremony included the President, Society for Peace Studies and Practice, Mr Nathaniel Awuapila, Chairman BOT, Professor Elias Bogoro, founder of SPSP, Professor Isaac Albert, and the Vice Chancellor, Al-Hikimah University Ilorin, Professor Noah Yusuf.
