The International Organization for Migration has provided support to about 250 farmers with disabilities in flood-affected areas of Anambra State, offering credit cards with N30,000 each.

This initiative aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by these farmers due to their sudden migration from coastal areas to internally displaced centers.

Mr. Hezekiah Samuel, the Anambra Field Coordinator for the International Organization for Migration, addressed the farmers at the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission in Awka.

He emphasized that IOM's role as a UN Migration Organization, is to support those affected by floods in Anambra and other states, with a focus on promoting humane and orderly migration.

"We understand that persons with disabilities are particularly vulnerable during natural disasters.

"This card contains N30,000 and a special pin has been provided for withdrawal. It's IOM's way of lending a helping hand to alleviate the hardship caused by the last flooding."

Mr. Thomas Mark Onugbolu from the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency, urged the farmers to utilize the support effectively, commending IOM for transparent project execution.

Mr Ikechukwu Ezeokafor, representing the farmers and the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Anambra State Chapter, expressed gratitude to IOM and looked forward to future engagements.
