  DEVELOPING STORY: Man Found Unconscious After Allegedly Throwing Children From Storey Building in Aba A man was reportedly found unconscious but still breathing after allegedly falling from a storey building at New Phase of Umuobe by Barracks, Opobo Road, Obignwa, Abia State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, has caused panic among residents of the area. Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man allegedly threw two of his children from the building before attempting to throw down his wife. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. The two children were reportedly rushed to a hospital for medical attention. As of the time of filing this report, Magic FM Aba could not independently confirm their condition or whether they survived the fall. The man, who sustained an injury to the head, was still lying in front of his house and had yet to receive assistance as of the time of this report. LASG SEEKS DRIVING SCHOOLS’ ENHANCED SAFETY INITIATIVES



The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi has sought Driving Schools Instructors and Operators’ enhanced safety initiatives, adding that building around safety initiatives in an emerging mega city like Lagos State is aimed at aligning Driving Schools in the State with global road safety performance target, thereby advance towards achieving the global goal of the decade of actions for road safety 2021-2031.


He stated this on Tuesday at the Year 2023 Driving School Instructors and Operators’ Train-The-Trainer workshop organised by the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute with the theme: “Drivers Taking Safety Initiatives in a Smart City” at STO Resource Centre, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja Lagos.


According to the Commissioner, Safety initiatives refer to a situation whereby motorists are not just simply working in a standard safe environment but are also contributing ideas and proactively increasing the standard of safety in their environment.


The Special Adviser to Governor on Transportation, Honourable Sola Giwa said Driving School Instructors and Operators are very important stakeholders, hence they have a lot to do considering the attitudinal behaviour of the motoring public on Lagos roads. He said the State government would so much appreciate their concern on safety precautionary measures in their training curriculum.


In a similar vein, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa commended Driving School Instructors and Operators for their mutual and beneficial collaboration with the state government in its efforts to reduce fatality on Lagos roads.


Earlier in her welcome address, General Manager, Lagos State Drivers Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu said the theme, “Drivers Taking Safety Initiatives is reinforced by the Institute’s belief that transportation serves as the engine of growth while other aspects of social political and economic life take a cue.


Tiamiyu said for the Institute to play host to the event, is a clear manifestation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the creation of a working synergy with the major stakeholders to deliberate on concrete issues towards mutually beneficial cooperation, collaboration and comprehensive consolidation.


The LASDRI boss opined that the yearly interactive and engaging forum which offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders in the transport sub-section in the country, is aimed at improving the quality of service delivery.


Consequently, she urged all the participants to use the yearly training opportunity to join hands with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration to explore the potentials embedded in the first pillar of his THEMES Plus agenda - Transportation and Traffic Management - in a bid to tackle associated problems in public transportation and keep Lagos moving with pride.


Other notable individuals who attended the workshop include the representatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), Coalition of Driving Schools in Lagos State and other various stakeholders.
