Nigeria is safe, open for foreign investments - Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reassured the international community that Nigeria is safe and welcomes foreign investments and tourists to explore and benefit from its potential.

Idris shared this information during a meeting with senior media editors and executives in Abuja on Monday.

The Minister was reacting to the US Embassy’s travel advisory about an increased threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.

According to the Minister, all countries face various challenges, such as economic, political, gun violence, or social and cultural issues.

Mr Idris maintained that it was not proper to generalize isolated incidents to the entire hospitality industry.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation said such advisories as those of the US would only create unnecessary panic and could adversely affect the nation’s economy as well as undermine the government’s efforts to attract investments.

He maintained that the Nigerian Government has continued to place priority on the safety and well-being of all visitors to the country, emphasizing that Nigeria has implemented comprehensive security measures at the Federal and State levels to ensure the safety of tourists and international guests.

The Information Minister assured of the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in the country, including tourists and business travelers, and pledged to continue to work towards maintaining a secure and welcoming environment for foreign investments, tourism, and other endeavors.
