 No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

 RIVERS STATE ASSEMBLY LAWMAKERS EMBARK ON REFRESHER WORKSHOP IN ABUJA.



Rivers State House of Assembly Lawmakers in their determination to continue to effectively and efficiently perform the tripod function of law making, oversight and representation have embarked on a two- day refresher workshop on Legislative operations at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Abuja.


The two-day refresher workshop which was declared open by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas on Wednesday, aimed at sharpening the legislative skills of the honourable Members and management staff of the Rivers State House of Assembly.


Delivering his Keynote address, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen who was represented by the Majority Leader of the House of  Representatives, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, urged participants to take their legislative business seriously, as their constituents and the State expect much from them. He reminded the Legislators that the Legislature being the nucleus of any democratic government can not afford to be docile; and commended the Leadership of Rivers State House of Assembly for embarking on the refresher workshop.


Making his special remarks, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, thanked Rt. Hon. Abbas for his commitment to legislative excellence, and accepting to speak to the participants to motivate them in the performance of their work; stressing that, of the 31 Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, 27 Members were in attendance.


Welcoming participants to the workshop, the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Prof. Abubaker Suleiman, commended the Rivers State House of Assembly for being the first State Assembly to hold a workshop at the Institute; and pledged the collaboration of the Institute for greater performance of the Rivers State House of Assembly.


Amongst other dignitaries that attended the opening ceremony was the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda.
