10 DIE , SEVEN INJURED AS BUS RAMS INTO TRUCK ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY. (PHOTO).




 10 die, seven injured as bus rams into truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway


No fewer than 10 persons have died in an auto crash that occurred on Tuesday morning when a bus rammed into a truck around Kara turning on the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway.


Seven other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.


The crash involved a Toyota Haice Bus of Ash colour with registration number: FKY898YF and an Iveco tipper truck of Orange colour with no registration number.


Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.


Okpe said that the cause of the auto crash was due to excessive speed on the part of the driver of the bus which led to loss of control of the vehicle ramming it into the tipper truck that was about negotiating the turning.


She said that the bus was inbound Lagos from Ibadan before the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided onto the truck


The chief route commander said that 18 persons(All males) were involved in the accident, seven male adult were injured, one rescued unhurt and 10 recorded dead.


She said that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital for medical attention while the dead bodies had been deposited at Idera Morgue, Sagamu.


The Sector Commander, CC ANTHONY UGA was pained over the fatal crash that could be avoided if necessary caution was put in place.


Uga also emphasized that drivers should endeavour to take a 15 minutes rest for every four (4) hours drive because fatigue has been a major cause of road traffic crash.


He however commiserated with the family of the deceased.
