 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. 3,963 teachers fail professional exams – TRCN


No fewer than 3,963 teachers who sat for the Nov. 2023 diet of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) failed the examinations.


Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, the Registrar of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the body that conducted the examination, disclosed this at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja on Monday.


Ajiboye said the examination was conducted to test the professional knowledge of teachers in the educational sector.


“A total of 15,753 sat the examination at 38 centres across the country.


“Out of this, we have 10,636 that passed which is about 72.9 per cent and those that failed are 3,963,’’ he said.


Ajiboye also said that other candidates were absent at the examination while others had their results cancelled due to examination malpractices.


He assured that the Council would continue to work towards the improvement of the teaching profession in Nigeria.
