In resolve to rid-off Awka of illegal structures, the  Awka Capital Development Authority (ACTDA) has demolished shanties and illegal structures in Unizik Tempsite, Anambra State ahead of the yuletide celebration.

Speaking to journalists during the exercise, the Deputy Commander Enforcement team, Mr. Ukachukwu Okonkwo, said that the exercise was a monthly routine to improve serenity in and around the state capital.

"The state government passed a law that if you want to build aq cross-over  gutter, you must construct it with iron bars or removable slaps for easy clean up during sanitation or desilting to allow free flow of water and movement of vehicles," he said.

The exercise, which was carried out at the newly constructed dual carriage road at tempsite, Abakaliki Street - Club Road, and Okey Anueyiagu, former INEC Road, Awka, aimed at ensuring that Ndị Anambra enjoy the serene environment they deserved.

The Agency's Public Relation Officer also reported that removal of heavy-duty trucks that obstruct the free flow of both human and vehicular movement on Arthur Eze Avenue was also carried out by the Agency.
