 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.  Bandits abduct chief, police officers, many residents in Taraba ambush


In a tragic overnight incident, armed bandits descended on the quiet community of Pupule in Yorro Local Government Area, Taraba State, abducting a total of 16 residents, including the district head and second-class chief, Alhaji Umaru Nyala, a police inspector, and a sergeant.


The brazen attack unfolded around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, catching the unsuspecting residents of Pupule in their sleep. Among the victims were key figures in the community, including the district head and law enforcement officers.


Confirming the distressing development, SP Abdullahi Usman, the spokesperson for the Taraba Police Command, revealed that Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has swiftly ordered a comprehensive manhunt for the assailants with the primary objective of securing the safe rescue of the abducted individuals.


Usman shared, “The strike force and anti-kidnapping squad of the police are currently combing the bushes with local hunters and vigilantes to rescue the victims.”


He clarified that one of the kidnapped police officers was on casual leave, while the other was a resident of the affected community.


The community is now gripped with fear and anxiety as efforts intensify to locate and free the victims from the clutches of the criminals.


The incident underscores the persistent security challenges faced by certain regions, necessitating proactive measures and collaborative efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in vulnerable areas.
