 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. Civil Defence nabs nine for making pillows with used diapers, sanitary pads

Nine persons have been arrested in Sokoto for making and selling pillows containing used diapers and sanitary pads.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) announced the arrest at the state command’s headquarters on Wednesday.

The state’s commandant, Bello Alkali Argungun, said, “They used small children who get them the trash. They filled the pillowcases with it, which they sold to their customers. The pillowcases carry different logos of reputable foam companies.”

Mr. Argungun warned unsuspecting buyers of the pillows of the health hazards, saying, “They may contract some diseases without knowing the cause. I am appealing to our people to always go for businesses that are legitimate.”

He stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
