 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. ‘Don’t Bring Ill-Gotten Money To My Church Altar As Offering’ – Pastor Muoka Warns Members

The founder and the General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Revival Movement Church based in Lagos, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, has warned his members against bringing stolen money to the altar.

The renowned cleric disclosed this during the conclusion of the two-day retreat themed “Only God can Do This”, held at the church’s headquarters in Lagos.

While speaking on the importance of restitution to his congregation, heurged them to return any possessions that they had acquired unjustly to their rightful owners, whether it be money or property.

According to the General Overseer, these wrongfully obtained items would continuously yearn for their original owners.

“As a practical Christian, learn to return ill-gotten things and valuables to the owner; in that respect, the urge to take things that don’t belong to you will be halted,” he said.

He stated that sin acts as a barrier that separates individuals from God, emphasizing that a practice of making amends would incline people towards a spiritually liberated existence.

“It is forbidden for you to bring ill-gotten proceeds to the altar of God as offering. Refrain from such acts, amend your ways and be saved.

“The fact that people, your colleagues, are stealing with pen in the office does not make it right for you to indulge in it.

“It is your duty as a child of God to live an exemplary life to help change the trend,” he said.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
