 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". BABIES OF THE YEAR RECEIVE GIFTS FROM PLATEAU GOVERNMENT. (PHOTOS).



Babies Of the Year Receive Gifts From Plateau Government 


Wife of the Governor of Plateau state Helen Mutfwang has presented gift items to babies born on the first of January.


The first lady in company of the commissioner of women affairs visited some hospitals in the state.


The visit which started from the plateau state specialist hospital saw three babies with the first a boy born at about three  twenty in the morning and was followed closely by a baby girl born at four minutes  past seven.


In her submission,the wife of the Governor donated gift items to the families of the babies of the year and reiterated governments commitments in supporting its citizens.


The commissioner of women affairs Caroline Dafur afterwards went on to represent the governors wife at Ola Maternity Hospital,the Jos University teaching hospital,Ola hospital at Zawan and a primary health care center at Dadin Kowa and represented same gift items to the families of the new year babies.


Caroline didn't stop at that,she went further to pay hospital bills to few vulnerables who couldn't afford to settle their medical bills and also paid a visit to one of the orphanage homes at Zawan.


 Responding on behalf of the families visited,Helen Chuwang Nyam thanked the government for the gesture and called on them to keep up the good work.


 Items given includes: Pampers,baby blankets, clothing, washing soap amongst others.
