 Tanzania closes Nduta camp housing thousands of Burundi refugees Tanzania has closed a camp housing thousands of Burundian refugees and repatriated all but a handful, activists and the United Nations said. Burundian refugees have complained in recent months of being forcibly evicted from the Nduta camp in northwestern Tanzania, following a deal between the governments in Dar Es Salaam and Bujumbura to repatriate around 100,000 of them by June. As of late 2025, there were an estimated 142,000 Burundian refugees housed in two Tanzanian camps - Nduta and Nyarugusu, according to the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR). "The approximately 3,000 refugees who remained in the (Nduta) camp were forcibly loaded onto vehicles to be sent back to Burundi on Thursday," the Coalition for Human Rights/Living in Refugee Camps (CDH/VICAR) said, AFP reported. Governor Sanwo-Olu in a congratulatory message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile on Saturday, described Prince Jide Kosoko, who clocked 70 on January 12, as a living legend in the movie industry. 


The Governor also described the renowned actor as a good ambassador and proud Lagosian who has used his wealth of experience and talent to bring joy to millions of homes through several movies he participated in. 


He said: "On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I join family, friends, associates and fans to congratulate Prince Jide Kosoko on his 70th birthday celebration.


"Prince Jide Kosoko is a veteran Nollywood actor who has used acting as a tool to spread joy across many homes within and outside the country. He has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the entertainment industry. 


"We thank God for the grace upon Prince Jide Kosoko's life and for using acting as a tool for a good cause in our society. He is a role model to thousands of young Nigerians in the movie industry.


"I wish Prince Jide Kosoko all the very best on his 70th birthday. We thank God for his life and good health. We wish him long life and prosperity in good health.
