 A septuagenarian couple from Haryana’s Karnal district officially ended their 44-year marriage following an 18-year legal dispute. The Punjab and Haryana High Court’s mediation and conciliation centre facilitated the resolution, which involved a significant settlement of Rs 3.07 crore in permanent alimony. The husband, determined to part ways, sold portions of his prime agricultural land to fulfill the agreement. The couple, married on August 27, 1980, under Hindu rites, had three children—two daughters and one son. Due to growing temperamental differences, they began living separately on May 8, 2006. The husband filed for divorce in the Karnal family court on grounds of mental cruelty, but his plea was rejected in January 2013. He later appealed to the high court, where the case remained unresolved for nearly 11 years before being referred to mediation on November 4, 2024. MAN ARRESTED ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE OF AN X-RAY TECH AT ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL IN DECATUR, ILLINOIS. (PHOTO).

Man arrested for attempted rape of an x-ray tech at St. Mary's hospital in Decatur, Illinois. 


22-year-old, Victor Nunnery, has been denied pre-trial release in relation to a January 6th incident.


On that day in January, Nunnery was treated at St. Mary's in Decatur for shoulder pain. Nunnery came into contact with the victim when he was sent for x-rays.


According to the technologist when she was done with his x-ray she was cleaning the equipment with her back to him. Nunnery suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders and slammed her into a wall. She fell to the ground and the two began struggling, with Nunnery repeatedly trying to pull her pants down. 


Fortunately a staff member that was walking by, heard screams and the sound of the shuffle. She ran into the room. She witnessed that the victim was exposed from the waist down and Nunnery was laying over her with his pants down.


Due to the distraction, the victim was able to flee the room and security arrived. 


According to security reports Nunnery tried to claim it was consensual, but then later asked how long he would get for a rape charge. He later told the police he was aroused by her, "touching his shoulders."

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
