 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. MDCN inducts Over 400 foreign-trained doctors, dentists

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), has inducted 416 foreign-trained medical and dental graduates (403 doctors and 13 dentists) into the Nigerian medical profession, with a charge to uphold the ethics of the medical and dental profession.

The inductees were graduates who passed the written examination and other clinical exercises organized by MDCN to test their capacity and knowledge of medicine.

MDCN Registrar, Dr. Tajudeeen Sanusi, administered the necessary oaths to the doctors at an induction ceremony held in Abuja.

He informed the new doctors that the next step was posting to different healthcare facilities across the country for their one year mandatory housemanship which will, expectedly, afford them the opportunity to acquire more practical knowledge and experience required for smooth take off of their career

 Dr Sanusi therefore warned against unethical conducts detrimental to the image of Nigeria by dentists and medical professionals across the country.

Dr. Sanusi noted that the primary responsibility of medical practitioners was to save lives and urged the new inductees to conduct themselves professionally and always abide by the ethics of the profession.

While emphasizing the need for the newly inductees to be diligent and maintain integrity in the management of patients, Dr Sanusi admonished them to see their profession as a selfless service to humanity and not a money making venture as the council will not hesitate to sanctions any practitioner found wanting in the discharge of their professional duty.

Also the special Adviser to the president on health Matters, Mrs Salma Ibrahim Anas while congratulating new inductees of MDCN, and the management of the council for making the induction a reality urged them not to abandon the country for Quacks.

Over four hundred inductees have promised to practice the profession for public good while embracing rules and regulations and all other laws guiding the council.
