The Transition Chairman, Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Mr. Emeka Orji has said that the Oduigbo section of Ochanja Market under construction will be ready for use within four months.

Mr. Orji said this in an interview with Information officers shortly after he and his team inspected the market.

He said that the on-going  market project was in line with Prof. Chukwuma Soludo's effort to stop unplanned markets in the State.

"Gov. Soludo wants to change the narrative of building unplanned markets in the state, so he started with Oduigbo Market, one at a time," he added.

The Chairman, who described the market as a-state-of-the-art  project said that the construction was barely two weeks old.

According to Him, it was also in line with Gov. Soludo's manifesto to put Anambra State among the first eleven best states in Nigeria.

He described the project as a multi-billion naira edifice, which the people of the state will benefit immensely from.

Mr. Orji noted that former Oduigbo Market was not planned well and was of low quality which was why the State Government demolished it to put up a world standard one.

He urged the traders who have original papers from the former developer not to display any fear of losing their space as they will be taken into consideration before the new allottees when the market is ready.

The chairman said that the former occupants of the market were given palliative markets where they will continue their business until the modern market is completed, urging Ndi Anambra State to key into Gov. Soludo's big ideas to make the state an enviable one.

The Chairman described the governor as an administrator with loaded ideas and a public oriented personality who wants his developmental strides to be world class.

Also, the developer of the Oduigbo Market, Sir Uche Okoye said that the two storey building market  will contain 572 shops.

According to him, the down floor will contain 384 shops, the first floor will have 92 shops while the second floor will accommodate 96 shops.
