 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Offa Bank Robbery ;- Court Fixes Thursday For Hearing

Kwara state High Court sitting in Ilorin, presided over by Justice Halimat Salman has fixed Thursday, ,18th January ,2024 for continuation of hearing  in the April 5, 2018 Offa bank armed robbery.

 some suspected armed robbers attacked five commercial banks in the ancient Offa town in the Offa local government area of Kwara state, killing over 30 persons in the process.

The five suspects, Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham and two others were charged to court by the Police for criminal conspiracy to rob the banks, murder of nine policemen and other citizens, as well as  illegal possession of firearms. 

Michael Adikwu died in police custody while the remaining five pleaded not guilty.

At the resumed hearing today Wednesday, the third  defendant, Adeola Abraham , during cross-examination by the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacob SAN, said he can not remember when he was taken to Abuja by the police.

He insisted that on the day of the armed  robbery April 5th 2018 he was at the farm carrying log of wood  in company of the second defendant Ibikunle Ogunleye.

Abraham explained that the police did not give him the opportunity to document same in his statement.

He admitted that the search warrant used by the police to gain entry into his three bedroom apartment was duely signed by him.

Abraham said all the defendants are not indigenes of Oro town ,but they all reside in Oro.

He maintained that about twenty suspects were arrested by the police but others were released while five of them are arraigned before the court in connection with the Offa bank armed robbery.
