 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Over 3m Girls Benefitted From $500m World Bank Education Grant — FG


The Federal Government of Nigeria has disclosed that no fewer than 3 million girls across the country have so far benefited from the World Bank’s $500 million loan to Nigeria, under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project. 


Minister of State for Education, Honourable Yusuf Sununu, made this known at a programme marking 2023 International Day for the Girl Child celebration on Wednesday in Abuja.


He noted that the AGILE project has brought about substantial increase in enrolment of girls and retention in schools across the country.


He further disclosed that while more than 90,298 girls have received financial incentives (scholarships) to help them stay in school, about 199,921 girls have received scholarships in the first 7 implementing states.
