Supreme court will decide on Rivers state governor election

Today Wednesday the court of Nigeria will decide on the election of Ribas state governorship.

The situation between Governor Seminalayi Fubara of PDP and Tonye Cole of APC.

Last week five judges of the Koli court under the leadership of Judge Kudirat Kekere-Ekun listened to the lawyers of two angles.

The sides received notice from the High Court that the ruling will be held on Wednesday.

Cole challenges Governor Fubara's victory in the governor's election held on 18 March 2023 by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

As a result of the election, Fubara got 302,614 votes while he beat his opponent, Tonye Cole who got 95,274 votes.

Seeing that the APC contestant said there was rigging in the election and said Fubara was not eligible to contest because he was at the time Akanta-General of Ribas state - and it was against the constitution of the country to start. Resignation before contesting.

Cole later took the speech before the governor's election hearing where he requested impeachment of Fubara - but the report was ignored which led him to the Supreme Court where she also dismissed his case.

The final decision of the court is expected to end today.
